To be Frank, a debt management solution is what you need

Tuesday afternoon, around four, I get this guy beating my door down, saying he needs help - he's got a problem. Visa and MasterCard, they want him to own up, pay what's there's back to them. Guy looks like he's run a mile in high heels to get here and he's sweating like a fat man at Mardi Gras. Says his name's Frank, and that he ain't got no where else to turn. That he needs a reliable debt solution fast or else he's a dead man. I just leaned back, playing it cool.

"Pull up a seat, chum."

"God, don't you have an elevator?"

"Not with what I pay for rent. Now, what do you need? You come here looking for a debt management solution?"

"Yeah, yeah. That's it. I got needs, man. I need somebody to work over these companies for me - I need a credit card debt management guy to go in there and show them who's boss."

"You got some money to pay me? See, I got guys that can work up a perfect debt management solution, but they need some grease up front. Here's the thing - they'll get rid of 20% to 45% of your debt with a few phone calls."

"How do they manage that? What do they do that makes them work things out like that?"

"You see, the people at the debt management solution company, they contact the people you're owing money to and tell them they're going to pay your bills off. They have credibility with these companies, so they are trusted. They then rebill you, at a much much lower rate. Generally, this rate is at least 33 percent lower - we're not talking chump change, here. They have contacts across this business - some have a rolodex thicker that Paul Prudhomme's ass-cushion."

"OK, so. Get me a debt management solution. STAT."

"Stat? What the hell does that mean?"

"Um... I... er... don't know. Can I just have a credit card debt solution already?"

"Sure, sure. Call me again in the morning. I'm out of here - happy hour."
